Dooryard 1314

Dooryard 1314 is a little off-dry, with a tiny prickle of fizz.  Like 1111 before it,  1314 is a bit more reminiscent of English farm ciders than our usual.  The familiar FHC aromas of pineapple, pear, and dried fruits are accompanied by the various cooked fruits, leathery BSA, and slight toffee typical of certain Somerset farm ciders.  In the taste, the acid is just ahead of the broad, straight-forward bitter.  The ripe, sweet fruits follow from the nose, as does grapefruit, orange marmalade, leather, and stewed fruits.  The feel is moderately astringent, nice and drying, but not rough.  The finish faithfully follows the taste — this may be one of our most continuous ciders, from nose to finish.
