FHC in 2 More Books

booksFollowing our new policy of mentioning cider books that mention us, we warmly recommend the newest edition of  ‘Cider, Hard and Sweet,’ a neo-classic by our friend Ben Watson, first published a decade ago. Ben has done more to cultivate this country’s  renewed acquaintance  with cider and its pleasures than anyone else we know of. For an entertaining survey, packed with lore, history, technique, fun, and good English, pick this. (It’s had three different covers over the years, these two show up best in thumbnails photos.)

New CM Handbook imageFor aspiring cider-makers, The New Cider Maker’s Handbook by Claude Jolicoeur is a detailed how-to which will reliably enable beginners to produce cider. With practice, readers may progress to where their own expertise differs successfully from their first instruction. What more can we ask from education?
