Carry Your Dinner NYC with Farnum Hill Ciders

This weekend Farnum Hill Ciders will be featured at one of our most unusual events to date, at a futuristic take-away dinner as part of the Festival of Ideas For The New City, a celebration of what New York may look like many years from now.

On Saturday, we’ll be part of a wonderfully weird event called “Carry Your Dinner Elsewhere.” Our Other Location, a private dining group focused on short-term, unusual settings, and Chef Phillip Kirschen-Clark of Vandaag are creating a carry-away dinner for the new New York.  In a future city reclaimed by nature, where retail spaces are either unaffordable or unusable, fine dining doesn’t go away.  It takes to the streets.

Ticket holders will pick up a lightweight portable camping table, table settings, camping cutlery, and a 3-tier stainless steel tiffin filled with a multi-course meal (including Skyr custard, wild vegetables, and Pigeon Pie) by Chef Kirschen-Clark.  And then they’ll set off to build their portable restaurant table in whichever corner of the city they choose.

Diners can stay close and set up in the giant courtyard of the adjacent vacant school, or hop in a cab and head to a park, pier, or rooftop.  Camping tables and canteens make this experience authentically boy- or girl-scouty, and attendees can chose their preferred dining location, sheltered or open, near or far!

Also on May 7, Festival attendees can drop in at the “Old School’s” former school cafeteria, which WRK Design/Build and Our Other Location are turning into a futuristic squatter’s cafe, where we’ll serve sandwiches and jerky by Court St. Grocers, beer, cider by Farnum Hill Ciders, and the dessert of the New City by Pies ‘n’ Thighs.  The Cellar will be operating in conjunction with “School Nite,” which will fill the Old School at Prince and Mott with a variety of Festival programming throughout the evening.  No reservations necessary.  Entrance at 32 Prince St. until 6 PM; after 6 PM, enter through the building’s Mott St. entrance.

The carry-away dinner is available only to ticket holders.  Pick-up is at 6 PM or 9 PM on Saturday, May 7, at 32 Prince St. (at Mott). Tickets are on sale now at:  https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/173099
