Out and About, Mid/Late May edition


Another busy few days for all of us at Farnum Hill Ciders — Louisa is in Brooklyn, working with our retailers and restaurant partners; she’ll be topping off the visit with a tasting Thursday at the ever-popular Heights Chateau. Newcomer Mackenzie is pouring at Downtown Wines & Spirits Thursday in Somerville (so please be nice to him); finally he and the lovely Jess will be chatting cider and slinging samples at Boston Event Guide’s Spring Wine Fest.

I will stay closest to home, pouring at the first Brattleboro Brewer’s festival. Our friend and cider fan Scott from G Housen has been instrumental in getting us involved in this new festival, organized by powerhouses Tim and Amy from hereforthebeer.com and Forty Putney Road B&B in Brattleboro.

This is the maiden voyage for our custom-built cider dispenser (I’m told it is otherwise known as a cold box) that Tyler and Tod from the Portsmouth Brewery rigged up for us last year. Yippee! It is just a bit ironic that the least mechanically inclined of our sampling crew — that is to say me — will be struggling with kegs, CO2 tanks, and tap handles on Saturday.
