Out and About: Barnyard Pets, Baller Wines
Farnum Hill’s cider slinging women — Jess, Louisa, Christy, Lissa, Marcia and I — will be out and about this weekend at a number of New England events big and small. (CW)
I start the adventures tomorrow with an early sales meeting at the Danvers, Massachusetts offices of our distributor, Craft Brewers. Then off to Boston, with hopes of getting cider into new spots, and chatting with current retailers.
Thursday closes with a cider (and cheese, we’re hoping!) tasting from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at South End Formaggio, the slightly smaller, more intimate sibling of Formaggio Kitchen. I have only been in the Cambridge shop — which is packed with elegant snacks, kitchen desirables, and various other goodies — including one of the best cheese selections around. Stop by if you’re around South Boston tomorrow.
And then, Friday kicks off a weekend of cider in our home state of New Hampshire at Durham Marketplace, our UNH favorite at 7 Mill Road in Durham. Jess will be pouring Kingston Black, XDry and Farmhouse from 4:30 to 6:30 as the weekend begins!
Boston’s Second Glass is a group of fun-loving wine peeps (or is it wine-loving, fun peeps?) bringing “baller” wine to a new generation of drinkers — an admirable goal from our perspective! With tastings, a printed wine guide and events a-plenty, they’re always up to something in the Boston area. This weekend brings their third Wine Riot back to Boston’s South End at the BCA. 250 wines, and the best cider in the country — we’ll be there, pouring Friday night and all day Saturday.
Saturday April 17 is also the date for the Concord Cooperative Market’s “Spring Into Healthy Living” fair. On Main Street, Concord, from 10 AM to 2 PM there will be samples, demos and even a barnyard petting zoo. Louisa and I will be pouring inside due to liquor law; please stop in and say hello. Family-friendly, free to all.
